Clamp-on sail rig converts your canoe into a sailboat in minutes. Fun & practical. Available stabilizer outriggers (pontoons on arms) to prevent tipping. Fast, portable, and comfortable. Canoe sailing is a popular sport with a long history. This modern rig makes it easy and hassle free. Rig folds to less than 4-foot-long package for easy storage. Plenty of room for passengers. No damage to canoe. How-to-sail instructions included.
Enjoy the thrilling power of nature's own wonderful wind. Feel that power in the tug of the sail on the rope in your hand, and the throb of the steering oar in your other hand as its blade knifes through the rushing water. You make slight adjustments of steering-oar angle and the sailing canoe instantly responds like a well-trained roping horse. See your outrigger pontoon swooshing in the water like a little torpedo, sending a miniature wake out behind it. Sailing your canoe, you'll enjoy the quiet of a motorless boat -- the only sound is the bump, bump, bump of the canoe hull against the water as it slaps the waves.

Canoe sail rig with ethafoam stabilizer floats & FREE SHIPPING Everything needed to make your canoe into a sailboat INCLUDING the optional stabilizer floats and outrigger arms to help keep you from capsizing when the wind blows hard. Front crossbar will be 40" (good for 99% of canoes) unless you email us and request different. Long works on narrow canoe but short could be a problem on a wide canoe. Other two crossbars are adjustable. Close-Up Pictures
If you will be sailing in conditions that drive the stabilizers hard into the water and fast through the water, consider either upgrade to hydrodynamic floats or adding float braces for foam floats. High Seat is a good option so you are better positioned to balance the canoe to keep floats above the water.
Options to consider adding: Upgrade to larger sail and/or heavy duty mast and/or Hydrodynamic Floats and/or custom dacron sail (pick your own color scheme!). Add a heavy duty carry bag with shoulder strap. Add High Seat for a more flexible seating position (item 1007) giving you more ability to balance the canoe. Add waterproof floating cellphone case for the safety of secure communications. See item 1008 below for a package that includes all the upgrades in one price with free shipping on everything.
Canoe Sail Rig w/out Stabilizer Floats & FREE SHIPPING Same as rig with stabilizer floats except, um, no stabilizer floats. Easy to add the floats later if you decide you need them (and you are still alive). Seriously, some canoes are stable enough, some sailors are skilled enough, and some waters are safe enough so that stabilizer floats are not always needed. Front crossbar will be 40" (good for 99% of canoes) unless you email us and request different. Long works on narrow canoe but short could be a problem on a wide canoe. Other two crossbars are adjustable. See item 999 for list of available upgrades and options. Video Click Here If you already have a Sprng Creek stabilizer, see item 1017. Shipping dimensions 48" x 12" x 12". 37 lbs.
Stabilizer Floats (foam) and arms for Our Sail Rig or Rowing Rig Ethafoam floats on aluminum outrigger arms that slide into the main crossbar of the sail rig to help keep you from tipping over. Mostly for canoes and kayaks, but also work on inflatable dinghies with our sail rig if you feel the need. The inflatables dinghies are very stable even without them, but not impossible to tip. To use on canoe, without buying sail rig, order item 5005 instead. For motoring or sailing, consider item #1006 hydrodynamic style or the inflatable style instead. More Info Click Here

Hydro-Dynamic Stabilizer Floats & Arms only (slide into crossbar of a sail or rowing kit) Longer and more streamlined than the foam floats. These are pontoons on telescoping arms that can be added to most of our sail rigs and rowing rigs to help prevent capsizing. This is an accessory for a sail kit or rowing rig that has a crossbar these can slide into. See item 5026 for a complete stabilizer including crossbar and gunwale clamps. MORE DETAILS CLICK HERE Color choices: CLICK HERE (Specify color choice in comments section of checkout page). Best to give first choice and second choice as availability varies.
High Seat - Special add-on canoe seat A great canoe sailing or rowing accessory. Two benefits: (1) Gives you a high, wide bench seat so you can easily shift your weight side to side to counterbalance the force of the wind and keep the canoe upright; (2) Lets you put your seat where you want it, to improve bow-to-stern balance, especially good for solo sailing to keep the bow down. When you have the freedom to shift your weight all the way over to the windward side and even a little beyond, it adds a whole new dimension to canoe sailing. Your skill in balancing the canoe will add to your speed and your fun. Also works great as a table or workbench on the water. Approx 7" x 36" . Full page of details Click Here Caution: Use with Hydrodynamic stabilizer floats or accept greater risk of capsizing due to higher center of gravity.

Spirit Sail - 17 Sq. Ft. - Downwind Only - Canoe or Kayak 17 sq. ft. spirit sail will take your canoe or kayak downwind effortlessly. Easy put up and take down once base is installed on your boat. Also available in half size (item 1010). Includes a bolt-on base which requires you to drill holes in deck. No-hole installation possible - see items 1011 and 1012. MORE INFO CLICK HERE
Inflatable stabilizer floats and arms Rugged, yet more portable than our other stabilizer floats because they deflate. Very puncture resistant and they inflate quickly and easily with just a few puffs by mouth -- no need to carry a pump. They have one-way valves, so blow in as hard as you can to top them off and then take your time screwing the cap on. The one-way valves will keep the air from rushing back out and since they can take all the pressure your lungs can give them, you can inflate them hard. They have dual side-by-side mounting rings that attach them to their aluminum arms, so they are firmly held pointing straight ahead. This item is not designed with the up/down adjustment. This item is just floats and arms for adding to a sail kit, rowing setup, or other product that already has crossbar for them to slide into. For sailing, you use floats in all-the-way-up position anyway, so if that's the intended use of your stabilizers, you don't need up/down adjustment. Click Here for Video.
Our item 1006 rigid stabilizer perform better in some respects but are not as portable and compact to store. The main performance difference is seen in a strong wind, when the float gets submerged on the downwind side. The 1006 stabilizer does fine fully submerged, causing very little drag. The inflatable causes little drag when on top of the water, but if you force it under, it causes a lot of drag.
Free shipping applies if ordered with other things. If ordered alone, we will add $15 shipping when we process the order.
Customer writes: 'I LOVE IT'
Sailed for the third time on the setup today. Sails GREAT! I LOVE IT!
Very lively winds today, 12-16 knots at times. Boat handles great under sail, glad I got the inflatable stabilizers for sailing solo. (The hydrodynamic ones would be great but I needed everything to be RV packable.)

Upgrade stabilizer floats from foam to inflatable Add this item to your cart only if you are also buying a sail kit or other item that normally comes with ethafoam floats. This item deletes the ethafoam floats from your product and adds inflatable stabilizer floats and arms as described above at item 1013. For shipping to foreign countries, use the "without stabilizer floats" shipping cost because these are so easy to ship.
Windpaddle Adventure downwind sail - like a kite Fly this from your kayak deck or canoe thwart, or from your inflatable boat. Like flying behind a kite (but lower -- it stays right in front of you so you can control it). Nothing to bolt on. Yellow/white, blue/white, red/white -- email jim@sailboatsToGo.com or call 978 263 7598 to specify -- if you don't specify we'll make a random selection. Larger version, "Cruiser" see item 1026. MORE INFO CLICK HERE Full scale upwind sail kits with steering and much bigger sails also available - see item 999 for canoes or item 6004 for kayaks. Deployed diameter - 42 inches (106.7 cm.)
Coiled/folded diameter - 15 inches (38.1 cm.)
Sail area - 9.62 sq. ft. (0.8937 sq. m²)
Weight - 13 oz. (0.0.368 kg.)
Windpaddle Scout - Medium Duty Version of Adventure Like the Adventure (item 1015) but lower priced, and not recommended for use above 15 mph winds. That's a really strong wind, so that limitation will be no big deal to most kayakers. Easier to coil and uncoil than the Adventure, due to lighter, less springy hoop. $139 MSRP, now available at discounted $119 with free shipping! 9 SF sail. Can be used like a mini-spinnaker to supplement speed with any of our sail kits (need a crew member to handle it). Full scale upwind sail kits with steering and much bigger sails also available - see item 999 for canoes or item 6004 for kayaks.
Canoe Sail Rig For Stabilizer Owners - Free Shipping If you already own a stabilizer from us or Spring Creek this is the item to order. It is the complete canoe sail kit with 45 SF nylon sail, minus the stabilizer floats, front crossbar and its gunwale clamps (minus the components of the stabilizer you already own, in other words). To upgrade to larger sail and heavy duty mast add item 5011. Swap mast only for heavy duty is item 5016, custom dacron sail (item 5017 for 45 SF or 5060 for 55 SF dacron with mast upgrade included).
Extras to consider: High seat (item 1007), Carry bag (item 6005), waterproof floating cellphone case (item 5015). The item 6005 carrybag is a HUGE convenience and you'll be impressed with the quality of it. Leeboard upgrade (item 5092). Extra steering oar is item 5031 -- we like sailing with two steering oars because (a) we prefer steering with the oar on the downwind side, and with an oar on each side we don't have to move it from one side to the other and (b) for maneuvering in close quarters around other boats, a dock or swimmers, we can propel the boat short distances using the two steering oars together -- no need to pick up a paddle.
Shipment to UK, Europe, Japan is item 6009.
Canoe Side Rudder - complete with mount Now you can use a conventional rudder even on a canoe and it doesn't have to be a square back canoe. This rudder unit works like a canoe motor mount: Crossbar clamps across the gunwales and sticks out on one side, and rudder pivots off the crossbar. This is the complete unit: crossbar, rudder mount, gunwale clamps, rudder & tiller.
Canoe side rudder - substitute for steering oar Use this item to delete the steering oar unit and steering oar from a canoe sail kit you are ordering today and substitute in the complete side rudder unit. This item number can only be used with a canoe sail kit purchase. We like sailing with a steering oar. But we know some prefer a conventional rudder. The advantage of the rudder is less arm effort, less drag. The advantage of the steering oar is lower cost and you have steering control even if the boat loses forward momentum.
Side Rudder to be used with steering oar crossbar If you already have or are ordering the complete canoe sail kit and want to have the additional option of steering by side rudder, order this item. It comes with a rudder mount that attaches to the steering oar crossbar of the canoe sail kit. It does not have its own crossbar and gunwale clamps (see item 1018 for unit with its own crossbar and clamps). It does not prevent use of the steering oar. Selecting this item will not delete anything from a canoe sail kit ordered at the same time (it is not a substitution item - see item 1019 to get rudder as a substitution).
16' folding Pakboats Pakcanoe 160 with deluxe sail kit and stabilizers This is a fully capable 16' canoe from Pakboats that folds and comes apart to a size that will fit in your trunk. Pakcanoes are often used on wilderness expeditions down wild rivers, so you know they're tough. We flew ours to the Caribbean and went sailing with it. The Pakcanoe sells for $2060 list and our deluxe sail kit is $899 by itself, including our best Hydrodynamic stabilizer floats and heavy-duty bag. So, the package price is quite a savings. See Videos: CLICK HERE (video 1) and then HERE (video 2) Other Pakcanoe models available as a package at similar discount. Email email@example.com.
16.5' folding Pakboats Pakcanoe 165 with deluxe sail kit and stabilizers Pakcanoe 165 with stabilizers and our deluxe sail kit for Pakboats. Folds and stows in a compact package. Blue & white red & white or yellow & white -- email Jim@SailboatsToGo.com or call 978 263 7598 to specify. If you don't specify, we'll make a random color selection. MORE INFO CLICK HERE Full scale upwind sail kits with steering and much bigger sails also available - see item 999 for canoes or item 6004 for kayaks.
NuCanoe Sail kit with inflatable stabilizers Sail kit for the NuCanoe with inflatable stabilizer pontoons. No drilling or other modification of your boat required. See item 1028 for rigid pontoon version. Inflatable pontoons are more portable and lower in price. They work well. However, they are not adjustable vertically, which is no issue for sailing (you would have them all the way up regardless) but perhaps a drawback if you also wanted to use them for fishing. Accessories and upgrades to consider: Carry bag (3012, 6005), heavy duty mast, Dacron sail, larger sail (5011). Includes: Sail, mast, spars, leeboards, steering and all necessary straps, hardware and instructions. Video and more info click here
Sail kit for NuCanoe with Hydrodynamic Stabilizers Sail kit for the NuCanoe with rigid plastic stabilizer pontoons. No drilling or other modification of your boat required. See item 1027 for inflatable pontoon version. Pontoons adjust vertically, which is no benefit for sailing (you would have them all the way up regardless) but perhaps a benefit if you also want to use them for fishing. Accessories and upgrades to consider: Carry bag (3032,6005), heavy duty mast, Dacron sail, larger sail (5011). Includes: Sail, mast, spars, leeboards, steering and all necessary straps, hardware and instructions. Video and more info click here
NuCanoe Sail Kit with No Stabilizer Pontoons We recommend stabilizer pontoons when sailing the NuCanoe. However, we did fine without them sailing solo in moderate conditions with the larger model NuCanoe. With a second person aboard, we needed the stabilizers because there is not enough freeboard. See item 1027 or 1028 for additional details (except for pontoons, it's the same kit). Video and more info click here
Stabilizer pontoons for NuCanoe - Hydrodynamic Stabilizer pontoons attach to the forward seat anchor points of your NuCanoe and vastly enhance stability. The hydrodynamic pontoons are strong and streamlined, appropriate even for motoring or sailing. Adjust in, out, up and down. If you later buy our sail kit, we'll credit you for the parts you already have and omit them from your sail kit. Float colors: Gray is the default. If you prefer red, yellow or mango please email us to let us know immediately after ordering. Consider getting a carry bag (item 3031) too. Similar products at lower cost: 1031 (ethafoam stabilizer), 1032 (inflatable stabilizer).
NuCanoe stabilizer pontoons - Ethafoam Stabilizer pontoons attach to the forward seat anchor points of your NuCanoe and vastly enhance stability. The ethafoam pontoons are suitable for paddle power but we recommend the 1030 or 1032 for motoring or sailing. Ethafoam is resilient and long lasting, lightweight and economical. Adjust in, out, up and down. Float color is gray. Consider getting a carry bag (item 3031) too.
NuCanoe Stabilizer Pontoons - Inflatable Stabilizer pontoons attach to the forward seat anchor points of your NuCanoe and vastly enhance stability. The inflatable pontoons are strong, streamlined and very portable, appropriate even for motoring or sailing. Adjust in, out, up and down. If you later buy our sail kit, we'll credit you for the parts you already have and omit them from your sail kit. Float color: Light gray (almost white) with black trim. Consider the item 3031 carry bag too.
Pakpod - Deck Bag, Paddle Float and Waterproof Backpack. Could Save Your Life. The perfect deck bag, backpack and paddle float self-rescue device for your canoe or kayak.
MORE INFO CLICK HERE Independent review: CLICK HERE What's a paddle float? You slip it over one blade of your kayak paddle and use it in rough conditions as an emergency stabilizer or if you capsize (or intentionally go swimming), you rest one end of the paddle on the kayak while the other is supported by the float and it give you something to push down on to lift yourself up out of the water and back into the cockpit. When it isn't being a float, it's a water-tight dry bag for important gear. On land it's a backpack. Video: CLICK HERE
Canoe Sail Kit Minus Mast, Spars and Sail The item 999 canoe sail kit minus the mast, spars, sail and rigging. Free domestic shipping. So, that would be the front assembly including mast step, leeboards, steering oar and oarpin, crossbars and gunwale clamps for all the above, and hydrodynamic floats and outrigger arms.
Duffel Bag for Mariner 4 Floor or Canoe Cart Makes Carrying Mariner 4 Easier. Divide the load between boat bag (comes with boat) and this bag for roll-up floor. Now you have two 40-lb. bags instead of one 80-pounder! We use this same item number for a bag for carrying the folding canoe/kayak cart. Please specify in comment section if buying for a cart.
Free shipping if there is a cart, sail kit or boat in your order. Otherwise, we will add $7 later in a separate manual transaction to cover shipping.
Shipping sail rig with floats to W. Europe, UK, Ireland, Japan When buying a sail kit with stabilizer rigid floats for shipment to Western Europe, UK, Ireland, etc. please add this item to cover added shipping (airmail priority by post office). Use item 6009 instead for rigs without stabilizer floats or with only inflatable floats. This applies to canoe, kayak and inflatable boat sail kits with rigid stabilizer floats to listed destinations. Please email Jim@sailboatstogo.com for other countries. This is the amount added to regular domestic shipping
Sevylor SVX200DS or U247 & our sail rig - out of stock This item is out of stock, but if you have the kayak or can get it elsewhere, we have the sail kit for it (item 2021). We have other great kayaks options based on the Saturn and Sea Eagle kayaks. Here's the writeup on the Sevylor: Fast, nimble, rugged, stiff and portable -- that's our 14-foot (13' 8") inflatable sailing kayak. The hull is a Sevylor SVX 200DS or U247 as they now call it (164" long x 34" beam - ) River X K2 Kayak . We've designed a special sail rig for it, that leaves most of the hull unencumbered by any metal parts, so you can sit on the sides, lean over the windward side to hike out, or paddle without interference from the sail rig. (Sail rig alone - see item 2021). This is our fastest inflatable sailboat, because of its length and sleek hull shape. Bow and stern come to a sharp point with upward curve (rocker) so that it rides over or cuts through choppy water. Upwind performance is good. Room enough for two. Air chambers have non-stretch skin that allows you to inflate them hard. This is a very high-quality kayak. Tracks very well for paddling. Includes kayak & sail rig with 45-sq. ft. nylon sail in multicolor design (red, white, blue & yellow). Boat is stable enough to sail without stabilizer floats (order separately), but more stable with them. Hand pump, pressure guage and bag for boat included. Weight of boat is 35 lbs. Sail rig is about 35 lbs. Click HERE for video. Options to consider (sold separately): Upgrade to 55-sq. ft. nylon (item 5011) or custom dacron sail (picture at left has custom dacron 55-squ.-ft. sail). Paddle. Carry bag for sail rig (item 6005). Stabilizer floats (item 1006). More pictures, videos, details: Click Here
Almost Universal Sail Rig - Fits rigid canoes/ kayaks; inflatable dinghies/canoes/kayaks Want one sail rig for your whole fleet? This one will do an inflatable dinghy, a rigid canoe, or a kayak. It has hydrodynamic stabilizer floats, one steering oar, leeboards, sliding leeboard mounts, canoe gunwale clamps, mast, sail, spars -- the works. Everything you will need to sail a canoe one day, an inflatable dinghy (e.g., Mariner, Sevylor Caravelle or Intex Seahawk) the next day, and inflatable or rigid kayak the next. Please let us know the boats you will using it on. Options to consider: Carrying bag (3012 or 6005), upgrade to larger sail and heavy-duty mast (5011). No drilling or other modification of your boats is required.
Wheeled sail kit bag, medium duty. This handy duffel bag fits all the parts for the inflatable boat sail kit or kayak kit (excluding rigid pontoons). And it rolls on in-line skate wheels! Looks like (and is) a golf club travel cover so the airlines are unlikely to give you any trouble over its size. It's about 48 x 11 x 10, which is more space than a sail kit needs, so you won't struggle to fit the whole kit in. Full-length zipper. Outside pocket for small items. Should last a good long time with just you and your family handling it. If you want a bag that has a better chance against airline baggage abusers, we suggest one of our heavy duty bags.
Heavy-duty alternatives: We have a larger, stronger, more padded bag -- see item 6005, with room for extra gear or for stabilizer floats. We've flown with it many times and never been charged extra due to its size. Item 6021 is another wheeled bag with more padding than the 3012 and all-around more heavy duty and a little more room than the 3012.
Book On Learning To Sail -- Jim's Favorite We've read them all (almost) and this is the best "How-To-Sail-For- Beginners" type book out there. It's the one used by the Annapolis Sailing School. It's got one female author and one male author, so both halves of our species were represented in its creation, which for a "how-to" book is a good thing. More info on content and another buying option: Learning to Sail: The Annapolis Sailing School Guide for Young Sailors of All Ages
Jim Luckett says: "It's clear, well written, well illustrated, and correct."
We do provide "How To Sail" instructions (written and illustrated by Jim himself) with our sail kits, plans, and sailboats, but if you like to have things explained 2 different ways to help make them stick, read this book too. Paperback.
Sail Kit for Pakboats SailboatsToGo folding portable sail kit for Pakboats. Video Link. This is the sail kit only (no boat, no stabilizer floats). Pakboats are a line of folding canoes and kayaks with interior aluminum frame, non-inflatable PVC skin, and inflatable tubes between the frame and skin. Under sail, they're fast and go great to windward. If you're skeptical of inflatables, but want extreme portability, this may be the boat for you. The sail kit includes everything you need to "sailboatize" a pakboat: sail, mast, leeboards, steering oar, framework to hold it all together and clamps to clamp it to the pakboat. This is the basic kit with one steering oar, 45 SF red/yellow/blue/white sail & no stabilizer floats. See also deluxe package item 3026. We strongly recommend adding our hydrodynamic stabilizers (item 1006)to this item or getting the deluxe package that includes stabilizers and other accessories. Upgrades available besides stabilizers include, upgrade to 55 SF sail (item 5011 - really not needed unless winds are very light - & heavy duty mast, standard or heavy-duty bag for sail kit (item 3012 or 6005), second steering oar (item 5031). With a second steering oar, you can propel the boat by rowing if the wind dies, and you can switch steering hands without shifting an oar from one side to the other. More Info.
Pakboat Puffin Saranac folding kayak with deluxe sail kit An open folding kayak for 2 people with our deluxe sail kit (see description for item #3026 for what this includes). This is a complete sailboat in two duffel bags. The kayak (you could call it a canoe) weighs just 28 lbs, yet has a capacity of 2 persons/400 lbs and a length of 15 feet. Kayak assembles in about 20 minutes (twice that the first few times); similar for the sail kit. We're excited about the speed, portability and upwind sailing ability of this sailboat. The kayak is a non-inflatable PVC skin over and aluminum tubing frame. Between the frame and the skin are 2 inflatable tubes on each side, for safety and to tighten the skin. You will feel this boat flex under stress, just like a traditional eskimo kayak, but like an eskimo kayak, it's plenty strong. For more info see our Pakboat sail kit page. Click Here
Stabilizer Carry Bag Sturdy carry bag will keep all the parts of your stabilizer together. Shoulder strap, outside pocket, plenty of room. Not suitable for sail kits. See item 6005 or 3012 for sail kit carry bags. We haven't listed any shipping cost on this item, because it's free shipping if bought with a sail kit or stabilizer. If purchased on its own, we will add $7 for shipping (will not show during checkout, however).
Camera Mount -- Video Yourself Sailing Puts your camera four feet out in front of your sail kit front crossbar, shooting back at you and your passengers. Make some nice sailing videos. 47-inch camera boom is removable to use as a camera wand to take hand held shots back at yourself or others from 4 feet up in the air or out to the side. Consists of 2 pieces: Socket clamps to front crossbar and 47-inch long camera boom snaps into it. Recommended for use with waterproof camera. Camera screws on using the tripod mount threaded fitting on the bottom of most cameras.
45 SF sail, spars, slide, ropes Great package deal to add an alternate sail to your sail kit (or to help you with a DIY project). Sail will be our "D" color scheme in nylon (white with blue yellow and red stripes at top and bottom).
Includes nylon sail, folding spar set with all fittings, swiveling mast slide, halyard rope, sheet rope and downhaul. No mast is included. See item 5000 for set with mast. This is everything you need if you already have our sail kit and you want an alternate sail you can quickly swap in without having to go through the procedure of dismounting and mounting the sail on the spars.
Giant 66 SF Sail and Spars and Mast Slide Be ready for really light winds with this giant sail. You'll have it mounted on spars already, so the switch from your existing sail will be fast. Mast slide included (see item 4992 for lower price without mast slide). This sail is like our 55 SF sail except the boom is also extended, like the top spar. Heavy duty mast recommended, as with the 55 SF sail. We would not use this sail above 12 mph winds. Best under 10. Terrific value pricing. Color: 2-tone blue (sail B) only. Although we say this is for light winds, at least one of our customers has ignored this limitation with no ill results. The following was posted to the Snark Sailboat Owners Yahoo group by TCraig: "Just went sailing today with my Snark Sunflower with the 66 sq.ft. sail. The wind was gusting to 23mph and the Sunflower was tearing along at 4.5 mph for 2 miles per my Iphone gps app. I think that would be a top speed for the Sunflower. I had to really hike out to keep from capsizing and the mast was bending like crazy with the gusts but the mast was ok in the end. I mention this in case anyone is considering upgrading to the large 66 sq ft sail from the 55 sq ft sail. Be prepared for some energetic sailing!"
66 SF Sail and Spars (no mast slide) Be ready for really light winds with this giant sail. You'll have it mounted on spars already, so the switch from your existing sail will be fast. Just move the mast slide over to this spar set and you're good to go. Or, buy a second mast slide($30) too. This sail is like our 55 SF sail except the boom is also extended, like the top spar. Heavy duty mast recommended, as with the 55 SF sail. We would not use this sail above 12 mph winds. Best under 10. Terrific value pricing. Color: 2-tone blue (sail B) only.
Side-saddle Canoe Motor Mount Clamps to one side of the canoe and has no crossbar. Only fits canoes with thick gunwale lips like Old Town. MORE MOTOR MOUNTS CLICK HERE People have adapted it to other canoes with home-made blocking or shims added, but we cannot advise you on this. If you have an Old Town or similar canoe, this is a great solution. For most other canoes, go with the Super Strong Motor Mount (item 5053) or the Hinged Motor Mount (item 5052)or the Any Length Aluminum Motor Mount. For electric trolling motors and gas motors up to 3 HP. Works on either side. Stabilizers recommended when motoring any canoe with any motor mount to prevent capsizing (item 5118). Clamp adjusts in and out to work with gunwales of 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 inches width and thickness of the lip from an inch to 1 1/2 inches. Don't need to measure for an Old Town. It will work. Substitute Snark Sail into a sail kit or sailboat order Buy this item to delete the 45 SF sail included with a sail kit or boat you are buying from us and substitute the authentic "Snark" sail described at item 4999. Works on canoe, kayak and inflatable boat sail kits we sell. This is only to be used for substitution. To buy this sail not as a substitution, see item 4999.
Super Snark sailboats come with an authentic Snark sail (this design or another by Snark) and no substitution is necessary when ordering them.
Sail 45 sq ft dacron Custom made 45 SF sail in Dacron fits Snark, SailboatsToGo, Spring Creek and Sea Eagle boats. Excellent workmanship and high quality materials. Dacron is theoretically more efficient at converting wind to boat-moving power than any other fabric, but we don't see a measurable difference in a head-to-head race with our standard nylon sail. These are made after they are ordered, so allow about 3 to 6 weeks. Wide choice of colors (Red, white, 3 shades of blue, turquoise, green, yellow, 2 shades of orange, purple, gold, black, gray, tanbark, pink) and the 4 panels of the sail can be different. Not returnable unless defective. If you want this sail INSTEAD of the standard sail in a sail kit or sailboat you are ordering today, choose item 5017 instead. Item 5017 is for substitutions (upgrading something you are buying today). This item is for buying the sail on its own (not as a substitute). Sail color page . We now have readymade Dacron sails also at a lower price. See items 5147, 5148, 5157, 5158.
Spar set - boom, top spar, mast slide for our rigs, Sea Eagle, etc. Segmented (3 sections each) and shock-corded inside, so they folds to 45 inches, but the parts stay together. You fold it with the sail still on the spars, for fast setup and take down. Fits our rigs, Sea Eagle, SOAR too. Add item 5160 (spar extension) to fit Sunflower or our rigs with 55 SF sail. Mast slide is on pivot, so sail can be furled and stored vertically against the mast, held up by the halyard, without taking the mast slide loose from the mast. Spars are aluminum, for light weight and strength. Includes all necessary fittings and hardware. If you get a second sail, we recommend a second spar set to save time changing sails. It saves at least 20 minutes each time.
EF Canoe stabilizer system: Foam floats + arms+ crossbar + clamps = stability! Please email us after ordering to specify canoe width & brand. Canoe stabilizers: Crossbar clamps to your gunwales. Outrigger arms slide into the crossbar tunnels and snap into place; can be slid all the way in to bring floats tight to hull for getting into tight places. Float height is adjustable: Up for sailing or paddling, down to the water for fishing, swimming, etc. These really work! Please email us after ordering and specify 30", 36", 40" or 45" crossbar (your canoe width + 2" and round up). If canoe gunwale lip is on the outside, add 4" to canoe width. Email: Jim@sailboatstogo.com. Also available with "Hydrodynamic" floats -- larger, stronger, more streamlined, hard tough plastic much better for sailing and motoring. more info click here

Waterproof case for cell phone, GPS, small camera A cell phone in a waterproof bag could be the most important piece of safety equipment on your boat. Some phones can be operated through the bag and sound travels through the bag just fine.
Bring a GPS along and clock your speed, chart your heading and bearing, and measure your upwind sailing ability.
Put your car keys in it too.
A small camera will fit.
Floats empty and tends to trap enough air around objects inside so that it would float loaded. If you're worried about that put a few ping pong balls in to bulk it up.
Has place where you can attach strap or line to secure it to the boat.

Heavy duty mast upgrade Twice as strong on the bottom half of the mast, so you can keep the sail up high even in stronger winds. With the standard mast, when the white caps appear, it's time to lower the sail a foot to reduce strain on the mast. Only a pound heavier. Still fits in the optional rig bag. Not shock-corded. Pieces lock together with spring button instead. This price is to substitute this mast for the standard mast when ordering a rig. Don't put this in your shopping cart if you are getting it free with upgrade to 55 SF nylon sail. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org to say you want the free upgrade in that case. Fits Super Snark, Sea Snark and Sunflower if you remove boat's mast sleeve.
Upgrade Sail to custom Dacron 45 SF -- allow 3 to 6 weeks for delivery Order this item to delete the nylon sail from your sail rig order and substitute a 45 SF custom dacron sail. Made to order so you choose the color or colors. Dacron marginally outperforms the standard nylon sail in terms of power & upwind sailing ability, but we don't really see much performance difference in our test. This is offered for the real sailing enthusiast who is willing to pay extra for a extra quality and a wide choice of colors. Sail color page . We also have Dacron sail options in ready-made sails -- look for our "upgrade to white dacron" and our "upgrade to Neil Pryde sail" options.
Canoe leeboards that snap-in mount to stabilizer crossbar, pair Pair of Canoe leeboards that mount to same crossbar as stabilizers (outriggers). Leeboards are large blades that slice through the water making it easier to go straight and harder to get pushed sideways by the wind or erratic paddling. Includes mounting fittings and knob bolts to attach to crossbar of our stabilizers (outriggers), so you can use both at once. Leeboards swing back and up if they hit submerged obstruction or beach. Already included in sail kits.
Clamp-on Rudder Mount For Hard-Transom Boats Drop this on your boat's transom, turn one knob, and you're ready for our rudder. Rudder mounts to it just by sliding pin through the eyes on the rudder mount and the eyes on the rudder. For Zodiac-type hard-transom boats and rigid fishing boats. Not required if you're willing to install eyebolts directly into your transom, but this accessory eliminates need for drilling. FOR DETAILS CLICK HERE
Rudder itself is included with rigs for Zodiacs and one of the fishing boat deluxe packages (item 7002), or purchase separately (item 7003). Consider our item 7007 clamp-on rudder as an alternative -- item 7007 is a complete rudder and clamp-on mount in one unit.
Rowing Outriggers for Canoe Gives you oar pivot points farther apart than width of the canoe, for better leverage when rowing. Canoe gunwale clamps - 1 pair - specify small or large in comments For clamping crossbars to your canoe. In comment section of checkout specify large (about 3" between the legs of the u-bolt) or small (about 1.5").
This item gets you a set of 2 clamps.
Also called Gunnell clamps.
Motor mount for Canoe - Hinged Designed for trolling motors only, this canoe motor mount is hinged so that your trolling motor will flip up automatically if it hits an underwater obstruction. Clamps onto your canoe gunwales without tools. Without the extension (item 5054) fits up to 20-inch width. With extension, fits up to 30 inch width, so you can move motor farther forward. Unhinged version, next item (5053), for gas motors or electric. If your motor has its own tip-up mechanism, it will be easier to use with non-hinged motor mount. Also, you can't use reverse with hinged version. Heavy-duty construction: The crossbar is 3/8" thick by 2 1/2" wide solid marine-alloy aluminum. The clamps are heavy, ribbed castings for strength and rigidity, with 3/8" diameter threaded shanks for the hand knobs on top that you use to tighten the clamps. Click on picture to enlarge.
Motor mount for Canoe - Super Strong for up to 3 HP Similar to hinged motor mount (item 5052) but rigid and stronger with bigger block for mounting motor. Great for electrics and also gas motors up to 3 HP. Maximum motor weight is 35 lbs. Clamps slide to adjust to canoe width, up to 20 inches apart, but with extension (item 5054) can fit up to 30 inch width. Mad River Adventure canoes require special clamps ($40 extra); request them in comment section of checkout. Safety note: Motoring solo from the rear seat of a canoe is dangerous, because the uneven weight distribution puts the bow up in the air, and then the thrust of the motor can put it more up in the air, to the point where you could flip or swamp. At a minimum, put some weight up front. Better yet, turn canoe around and use the bow seat as the rear seat, which will put you and the motor closer to the middle. A set of our leeboards will improve steering control and help you fight crosswinds (item 5056). Set of our canoe stabilizers also strongly recommended for capsize prevention. See item 5215 for a motor mount that accepts stabilizer pontoons without need for another crossbar and is available in any length without need for extension.
extension for #5052 and #5053 canoe motor mounts Fits either item 5052 or 5053 so that you can move the motor mount foward on your canoe. Most canoe motor mounts won't accomodate the width of a canoe anywhere but very close to the stern. This extension allows either of the two preceding motor mounts to go up to 30 inchs. (Low shipping cost assumes you are buying other items. If purchased solo, we will add $5 shipping).
Snap-in Motor Mount Motor mount snaps into end of our stabilizer crossbar or front crossbar of sail kit. The telescoping arm of your stabilizer float passes right through the motor mount and engages the stabilizer crossbar normally. Works great with Minn Kotas. With other brands, if your motor clamp won't open wide enough (2 3/4") to fit this mount as shipped, instructions are provided to turn one block on edge (pre-drilled for this) and you'll need to buy two longer bolts locally.
Leeboards and moveable mounting for canoe Clamp this leeboard set onto your canoe near the front to help you go straight. Leeboards are like paddle blades in the water, aligned to help you go straight. Greatly improves steering control and resistance to crosswinds when motoring and allows you to move the motor location forward without loss of steering ability. Motoring from the extreme rear of a canoe can be dangerous (risk of swamping or tipping). Motoring in a crosswind can present control problems. Add leeboards, move motor farther from rear end (using an add-on seat or by turning canoe around and using bow seat as the stern seat) and these problems are reduced. Stabilizers also recommended for motoring. Leeboards help with paddling and rowing too, but effect is not as dramatic. Unit includes: Telescoping crossbar with threaded ends to accept leeboard bolts, 2 leeboard and mounting bolts with hand knobs, pair of gunwale clamps. No-tool, no drill mounting system; adjustable to fit all canoes.
Electric Motor Package A 30-lb thrust electric trolling motor and a convenient rechargeable power pack with built-in charger and power meter and carry handle. We put this together with convenience in mind: Ordinarily, you buy a motor, then you have to go shopping for a battery and then a charger and when you're done you've got a system that's not so convenient to carry, store, charge and live with in your boat. With this package, the battery is thin and tall and can easily be strapped to a canoe thwart or inflatable grab line (strap included), is not so heavy (20 lbs), has built in charger for AC or charge while you drive from car cigarette lighter, has built-in power meter, and is in a sealed case - no worry ever about spilling battery acid! Yet it has enough power to take you 2 miles on one charge (20 amp-hour) in a small boat, average conditions. Want 4-mile range? Buy a second power pack (next item). One charge on one battery (about 5 cents worth of electricity) will allow you to cruise for an hour on the "3" setting (out of 5) on the speed control. Power pack is a truck jump starter and will also start your car in an emergency using its included cables. Has accessory output (cigarette lighter style socket). Motor is light (22 lbs), quiet, smooth, powerful; has 5 forward and 3 reverse speeds, extending tiller, and plenty of power for canoe or inflatable. No smell, no noise, no gasoline fumes or hazards in your boat or car. Use of motor in salt water will void warranty, but if you rinse salt off thoroughly after each use you can get away with it. Click arrow twice to play video !! Motor mount for your canoe or inflatable sold separately (not included). Telescoping handle on motor adjusts from about 10 to 15 inches.
Additional battery units for motor package 20-amp-hour power pack in sealed unit with built in AC and DC charging functions, power meter and carry handle. Includes cables to jump start a vehicle and accessory outlet for anything with a cigarette-lighter type plug (e.g., air pump, gps, radio, vacuum, light). One unit powers canoe or inflatable about 2 miles on one charge (your mileage may vary).

Top surface of bunks is 2 inches above the crossbar and height is not adjustable.

This seat cannot be used by itself. It requires the double-tube crossbar under it. Crossbar comes with our stabilizers, or many of our rowing packages. Or can be purchase separately.

Ethafoam canoe sponsons - foam flotation - 1 pair Some canoes will sink if swamped. Sponsons add flotation to help keep swamped canoe afloat. Might save your canoe, might even save the life of a person clinging to overturned canoe. Each sponson is a 4" diameter half-round, that is 9 feet long. Together, the pair of sponsons provide about 45 lbs of flotation (meaning they displace 45 lbs of water) which might make the crucial difference between sinking and floating. Add a pair of our stabilizer floats, and there's another 50 lbs (approx) of flotation. Sponsons also add a little stability, act as a splash rail to deflect spray when motoring or sailing, and a rub rail (bumper) when alongside a dock or another canoe (might save mashed finger!). Bolt on (plated steel bolts provided). black. See item 5140 for same thing with stainless steel hardware instead of plated; $15 more. More Info
Leeboard upgrade - convert your purchase to unbreakable blade Add this item to your cart to delete standard leeboards from a product you are purchasing now and substitute leeboards with unbreakable, larger blades. Polycarbonate plastic used in these blades will not shatter, crack or break. Width extender for folding boat cart - 15 inch or specify This 15" extension snaps into the middle of the folding canoe/kayak/boat cart to make a wider cart that's just as portable. Other lengths available, email Jim@sailboatsToGo.com. Made out of the same heavy duty material as the cart itself. 10-second, no-tool installation or removal. If you know the size you want then you can skip emailing and just specify in the comment section of the checkout page. Standard sizes are 15, 30, 36, 46 inches. The cart with no extension is 27 inches wide, so add 27 to length of extension to calculate total resulting width of cart. Note that the cart does not have to be as wide as the boat. It only has to be wide enough so that it can support the boat where it should. The position of the pads that the boat rests on is adjustable.

White Dacron Sail - 55 SF fits Sunflower and our rigs Dacron is the sail material used in sails for most larger boats, because it is more durable and holds its shape better than nylon. A nylon sail stretches more in high wind, which can reduce your upwind performance. For years, we've sold Dacron sails that are custom made as an upgrade, as an upgrade taking 6 weeks and costing more than this sail. Now this sail brings down the price and eliminates the long wait. Fits Sunflower and is the same size and shape as our other 55 SF sails.
Upgrade to 55 SF white Dacron sail and heavy duty mast This is just like item 5011 except the sail will be a white Dacron sail instead of a nylon sail. This is a substitution item which is valid to buy only in order to upgrade a sail kit you are buying in the same order. This item deletes the 45 SF nylon sail and standard mast from your order and substitutes in a 55 SF white Dacron sail, taller and stronger mast, and adds an extension for your top spar.
Upgrade a Sail in Your Order to White Dacron Add this item to your cart to convert the sail in something you are ordering now from nylon to white Dacron. Dacron is a higher-quality sail material that is longer lasting and holds its shape better for better upwind performance in strong winds. Adding this item to your order deletes the 45 or 55 square foot nylon sail in another item you are buying at this time and replaces it with a white Dacron sail of same size.
Substitute special Mad River Adventure type clamp Adding this item to your order deletes one pair of standard gunwale clamps and substitutes in one pair of special clamps suitable for the Mad River Adventure and Wavewalk Kayak and similar plastic boats. This is a substitution item and cannot be ordered by itself. (For sailkit customers: Add TWO of this item to your cart with your sailkit order for a Mad River Adventure Canoe sailkit.)
Upgrade to Neil Pryde Dacron Sail - Ready Made Select this item to delete the nylon sail in your order and substitute a Neil Pryde ready made Dacron sail in one of the Neil Pryde available color schemes . Aluminum Shaft 2-piece oar 7-foot flat blade oar with aluminum shaft that slides apart and together in the middle for easy transport and storage on land and in the boat. Stainless steel spring button locks the 2 halves together. Rubber grip. Strong oar, not a toy. Go ahead and put your back into rowing -- it won't fail. Shaft is 1 1/8" diameter. It will fit through the oarlocks of most inflatable boats (take apart in middle to fit through oarlock). You can purchase oar together with metal clamp-on oarlock at item 5031. Get two oars and you can join the two blade section together to make a double-bladed kayak paddle (see item 5175 for joining sleeve). This makes a great steering oar for sailing too.

Bag for sail rigs - big Big enough for the canoe or kayak rig including the stabilizer floats, with a handy pouch compartment for small parts. Also good for the inflatable boat rig. Heavily padded shoulder strap and suitcase-type handle. Strong fabric and strong zipper. Get it for the inflatable boat sail rig even if you don't get stabilizers, so you'll have extra room for a towel and a life jacket and a few other odds and ends. Although it's technically too big for the airline free baggage allowance, Jim (SailboatsToGo owner) has flown with it many times and never gotten hit with an over-sized bag fee. They weigh stuff, but rarely measure dimensions. If you want a bag that fits within airline dimension restrictions and can hold the sail rig excluding stabilizer floats, see item 3012 (item 3012 bag requires upgraded leeboards; item 6005 bag does not). For a similar size bag that has wheels, see item 6021. Color varies.
Braces for foam floats If you sail or motor with foam floats pressed hard on the water and moving fast in the water, the foam floats may eventually develop some play between the float and the vertical tube it is mounted on. A pair of these braces will keep the foam floats pointed straight ahead, preventing that play from developing, or correcting it if it has already developed. Not needed with hydrodynamic floats, inflatable floats nor even with the foam floats in moderate use. Braces may only be used with floats in up position but floats are easily released from braces to go into down position. If you are sailing with foam floats, we think you will want the braces.
Additional Shipping to UK, Europe or Japan for a sail rig without stabilizer floats Added shipping charges for western Europe, Japan, Argentina & UK for a sail rig (for canoe, kayak or inflatable) that does not have rigid stabilizer floats. Shipping will be by priority airmail parcel post. For Eastern Europe, Australia and other countries please email email@example.com . For boat under 40 lbs with sail kit, use quantity of 2 on this item.

Fishing Boat Sail Rig Everything you need to sail your fishing boat in a compact folding kit that just clamps on and away you go. No drilling or other modification of your boat is needed. This is intended for aluminum, fiberglass and plastic open boats. The gunwale clamps grab underneath the little horizontal lip that almost all such boats have at the top edge of the sides. If your boat has no lip, we can provide a bolt-on bracket that the clamps can mate with for $19 additional. The rig includes a 45 s.f. nylon sail (red-white-blue-yellow), spars, mast, mast step (socket), frame that clamps to the boat and accepts the mast step and leeboard mounts, leeboards, gunwale clamps, a rear crossbar that goes just forward of the transom and provides pivot points for the ruddering oar, and a special wide-bladed ruddering oar and oarlock. You can even sail with an outboard mounted on the transom, because our ruddering oar (steering oar) system has many alternate pivot points: If the center positions are blocked by an outboard, use one of the side positions. If you prefer a traditional rudder, we offer that as an option. If you are willing to mount two eyebolts on the transom of your boat, you can have the traditional rudder instead of the steering oar system for $49 additional or if you want a clamp-on rudder mount and traditional rudder it's $98 as a substitution for the steering oar system . Another option to consider is a larger sail and stronger mast. The larger sail/stronger mast combination is item 5011 A spar extension to accomodate the larger sail is included in the upgrade price. Custom-made dacron sails are also available in both the 45 S.F. and 55 S.F. sizes -- you choose the colors and custom lettering is available at $7/letter. A heavy duty carry bag for the rig is $39 extra (item 6005). Or see item 7001 or 7002, deluxe packages. The picture illustrating this item shows a custom dacron sail that is 55 S.F. and has custom lettering with our company name. If you order a custom sail, you would choose colors; lettering saying whatever you want would be optional & cost $7/letter. LINK More pictures, video and details click here
Deluxe Fishing Boat Sail Rig Just like item 7000 (so please read that item) but in a deluxe package: Includes larger 55 SF nylon sail, spar extension, heavy duty mast, heavy-duty carrying bag. This is the steering oar version, which is the version that works with an outboard motor on the transom. The steering oar also has an advantage over a traditional rudder in that you can turn the boat with it even if you have no forward motion. A rudder requires the boat to be moving in order to work. A steering oar does not, so you can't get stuck "in irons" (pointed head-on into the wind and not moving). But a steering oar puts a little more strain on your arm than a rudder does in a strong wind.
Fishing Boat Sail Rig Deluxe Package 2 Same as 7001 except steering is by a traditional rudder. Install two eyebolts (included) on your transom to accept rudder pin or buy our clamp-on rudder mount. Includes larger sail, stronger mast, and carrybag as described in 7001.
Rudder Rudder with kick-up blade, aluminum body, tiller and rudder pin. Requires two eyebolts (included) be mounted to boat's transom to accept rudder pin, or you can use our clamp-on rudder mount (item 5029).
Porta-Bote Adapter Package Everything you need to adapt the Fishing Boat Sail Rig (item 7000, 7001, 7002) to the Porta-Bote. Consists of secondary front crossbar and gunwale clamps for it, plus 3 pairs of bolt-on brackets ("false gutters"). No additional shipping when purchased with a sail kit.
Clamp on rudder Complete rudder with sturdy clamp-on mount that allows up-down and tilt adjustment. Kick-up blade allows beaching and protects against damage from underwater objects. Use on square-back canoe, rowboat, fishing boat, inflatable transom boat (Zodiac and similar). Even mount on side of canoe using a canoe motor mount. Clamps to transom or motor mount just like a trolling motor. Launch Video Click Here See item 7008 if you want to substitute this rudder for a non-clamp-on rudder in a sail kit you are ordering. Optional push-pull tiller system. If conventional swing tiller is a problem in your installation, add our Tiller Turner option. This offsets the tiller motion to the side and converts your arm motion to push-pull instead of side to side. For example, mount rudder beside a motor, and tip up one or the other, depending on which you are using. The swinging tiller might hit the tipped-up motor, but the push-pull Tiller Turner will solve that problem. See: Item 2017 Tiller Turner for more info on this option.
Sail pre-assembly service Select this item to have us put your sail selection onto your spars and install the mast slide, rope fittings and halyard before we ship it. Takes about half an hour to do. Only has to be done once, and then these parts stay assembled.
