 The Intex Mariner is the boat to get if you plan to sail with 3 or 4 people and a picnic lunch. Video of Mariner Almost 11 feet long (130") and almost 5 feet wide (57"), with a solid roll-up floor. The cockpit is much larger than a Sevylor 11 footer, despite similar over-all dimensions, because the air chambers are smaller. Plus, the solid floor enhances the feeling of space because the floor stays relatively flat under your foot or bottom. This is an extremely stable, rigid, substantial-feeling boat. Under the floor is an inflatable spine running the length of the boat that gives the hull a "V" shape under the water, which helps it track well. The disadvantage of this boat is weight: The floor is 40 lbs and the boat is about the same, so together they are about 80 lbs. Fortunately, it's easy to remove and install the floor by deflating one main air chamber, so when we don't have help, we just separate the floor and the boat into two portable 40-lb packages. If you can't afford our Saturn or Baltic model but want a boat for group sailing with room for the cooler, this is the one. Comes with 45 s.f. nylon sail standard. This same sail rig will fit lighter boats such as the Intex Seahawk II or any of the Sevylor Caravelles and Super Caravelles 9 ft and up, so for an extra $100 - $200 you could give yourself a lighter-weight second hull as an accessory -- a different sailboat to take when traveling light. Another option, more expensive, but same size and not as heavy is the Navigator II 500, also on this page.
Intex provides a lousy hand pump and good oars with the hull.

We tested many inflators before choosing 2 to sell. This is the quietest one we tested. Plugs into cigarette lighter. Has hose and adaptors for different size valves. Will inflate 11' Super Caravelle or Mariner in about 10 minutes. You don't have to hold it, so while main chambers are filling, you can be getting the rest of your gear arranged. A few puffs by mouth required to top off each chamber. You can do these puffs into the end of the hose (it detaches from pump), so you don't have to pucker up right against the boat. If you want option for cordless operation, get item 2016 instead. However, only this pump can be reversed to help deflate the boat. Squeeze most of the air out by rolling or folding, then suck the rest out using this pump to get your boat as small as possible for convenient transporting and storage. For deflation, you do have to hold the hose in the boat's orifice and block leakage around the hose with your hand, but this is easily and quickly done and the deflation function is very effective. | 29.00

We tested many inflators before choosing which to sell. Works cordlessly on it's internal rechargeable battery, charges from AC outlet. Has a hose, which is a big benefit -- otherwise you have to stand there and hold the inflator. The whole point of a power inflator, we think, it to be able to be doing other things while it's working! Will inflate most boats in about 10 minutes. There is plenty of juice in the rechargeable, even at the end of inflating a whole boat, unlike some other rechargeables we tried. A few puffs by mouth required to top off each chamber.  The Seahawk II with our sail rig is our favorite inflatable sailing dinghy. All the good things we've said about the Intex Sport 400 under sail apply equally to the Seahawk II. And the price is lower! The differences are few and minor: The Seahawk II has higher motor capacity (up to 2 HP and weight of 30 lbs) and it has one pair of oarlocks instead of two pair. And it sails great! Nice stiff hull, with a wave-skimming upturn at bow and stern. Just like the Sport 400 and the Mariner, this boat has thicker, reinforced fabric that allows it to take a little more air pressure without stretching, and thats the secret to its rigidity. Weight matters a lot for how quickly you tire when paddling. That's why we love this 34-oz. kayak paddle. Length is 230 centimeters (about 7 1/2 feet). Stiff yet light.  This motor mount is for Seahawk Sport 400 and all older (pre-2005) Intex boats with motor mount fittings. Has longer arms than new-style (see item 3015 for new style). Often, this item is out of stock, because they are hard to get. In that case, you can order an adaptor so older boats can use the new-style motor mount. It is item 3020 and the new-style mount is item 3015.

An open folding kayak for 2 people with our deluxe sail kit (see description for item #3026 for what this includes). This is a complete sailboat in two duffel bags. The kayak (you could call it a canoe) weighs just 28 lbs, yet has a capacity of 2 persons/400 lbs and a length of 15 feet. Kayak assembles in about 20 minutes (twice that the first few times); similar for the sail kit. We're excited about the speed, portability and upwind sailing ability of this sailboat. The kayak is a non-inflatable PVC skin over and aluminum tubing frame. Between the frame and the skin are 2 inflatable tubes on each side, for safety and to tighten the skin. Successor to the late, great Seahawk Sport 400. The Seahawk II makes a terrific inflatable sailboat with the addition of our sail rig (not included). Without the rig it's a good rowboat or you can add motor mount and trolling motor. Comes with oars, duffel bag and hand pump. 3-ply skin is thicker and less stretchy than most other inflatable boats in this price class, so it inflates firm and rigid. Upturned bow and stern ride over choppy water better than flat-bottomed boats. That's why it's Jim's favorite dinghy. Approx 117" L x 50" W x 18" H, 3 adults + 1 kid, total payload: 660 lbs.
