Side Saddle Canoe Motor Mount for Old Town Canoes with Vinyl Gunwales - New and Improved Sidesaddle.

Product Description

Clamps to one side of the canoe and has no crossbar. Only fits canoes with very thick gunwale lips like Old Town  with thick vinyl gunwales ( thickness 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches  and width  1 1/2 inches to 2 1/4").  No need to measure for Old Town -- it will fit.  Also Mad River models that have rectangular black vinyl gunwales. 

 Recommended only for trolling motors.

 People have adapted it to other canoes with home-made blocking or shims, but we cannot advise you on this. If you have an Old Town or similar canoe with thick rectangular vinyl gunwales, this is a great solution. For most other canoes, go with the Any Length canoe motor mount Item 5215  or Super Strong Motor Mount (item 5053) or the Hinged Motor Mount (item 5052) . 

Some people say it is okay for gas motors up to 3 HP but we are not sure -- so put a gas burner on it at your own risk!  We will be interested in user feedback on this.

 Works on either side of canoe.   Has adjustable angle block.  Angle one way, stand it up vertical, or angle the other way.

New and improved design and manufacturing process.   Far, far stronger than old side-saddle model sold by Old Town itself.

 Stabilizers recommended when motoring any canoe with any motor mount to prevent capsizing (item 5118).

Clamp adjusts in and out to work with gunwales of 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 inches width and thickness of the lip from an inch to 1 1/2 inches. Don't need to measure for an Old Town. It will work as long as it has the black vinyl gunwales, not the aluminum.   The Mad River models that have black vinyl gunwales also work with this.
