Intex Mariner 400 With SailboatsToGo Sail Rig
The new Intex Mariner 400 is our "party boat" -- room for 3 or four, plus the picnic basket and cooler, with a solid roll-up floor that makes it easy for people to move around in the boat and helps stuff stay where you put it. It's a big, stable, solid-feeling boat, but still very portable if you carry the boat and the floor separately (each is about 40 lbs) and sails great. The floor consists of solid slats each contained in a sleeve attached to a flexible PVC fabric sheet, so you can roll it up into a compact package. Like its smaller cousin the Intex Seahawk Sport 400, the hull is made of thick fabric that can take enough air pressure to make it very stiff, and the bow and stern have a little upturn ("rocker") to help the waves glide under. Plus, there's an inflatable spine between the bottom of the hull and the solid floor, creating a "V" contour to the underwater part of the hull, more like a conventional sailboat. We like this boat a lot, despite the added weight and set-up time due to the solid floor. Speed and handling is equal to the Seahawk Sport 400/Seahawk II. Next >>>
