Stabilizer Floats (foam) and arms for Our Sail Rig or Rowing Rig Ethafoam floats on aluminum outrigger arms that slide into the main crossbar of the sail rig to help keep you from tipping over. Hydro-Dynamic Stabilizer Floats & Arms (without the crossbar the arms slide into) Longer and more streamlined than the foam floats, but otherwise the same idea. These are pontoons on telescoping arms that can be added to most of our sail rigs to help prevent capsizing. The foam floats are lighter and shorter and priced lower. So, they are more portable and more affordable. If you think of stabilizer floats as insurance, and you don't intend to drag them through the water, but instead plan to have them above the water ready to catch you if you start to tip, then you don't care about drag. But if you are going to be leaning over enough to have a float in the water while moving, then these hydro-dynamic floats will cause less drag and are worth the extra $99. Inflatable stabilizer floats and arms Rugged, yet more portable than our other stabilizer floats because they deflate. Very puncture resistant and they inflate quickly and easily with just a few puffs by mouth -- no need to carry a pump. They have one-way valves, so blow in as hard as you can to top them off and then take your time screwing the cap on. The one-way valves will keep the air from rushing back out and since they can take all the pressure your lungs can give them, you can inflate them hard. They have dual side-by-side mounting rings that attach them to their aluminum arms, so they are firmly held pointing straight ahead. This item is not designed with the up/down adjustment. This item is just floats and arms for adding to a sail kit, rowing setup, or other product that already has crossbar for them to slide into. Canoe Side Rudder - complete with mount Now you can use a conventional rudder even on a canoe and it doesn't have to be a square back canoe. This rudder unit works like a canoe motor mount: Crossbar clamps across the gunwales and sticks out on one side, and rudder pivots off the crossbar. This is the complete unit: crossbar, rudder mount, gunwale clamps, rudder & tiller.
Side Rudder to be used with steering oar crossbar If you already have or are ordering the complete canoe sail kit and want to have the additional option of steering by side rudder, order this item. It comes with a rudder mount that attaches to the steering oar crossbar of the canoe sail kit. It does not have its own crossbar and gunwale clamps (see item 1018 for unit with its own crossbar and clamps). It does not prevent use of the steering oar. Sliding leeboard mounts (Pair) Allows you to adjust position of leeboards on our kayak, and inflatable boat sail kits (excluding kits for Pakboat, SVX200 & similar, where mast position is adjustable instead). Following the instructions provided, you will be able to fine-tune your rig for the combination of hull, sail, sailing conditions and preferences you have. Farther forward gives slightly better upwind performance. Farther back (up to a point) gives less drag and less effort on steering oar to hold course going straight ahead. Too far back gives control problems. Adjustable positioning allows you to adapt rig to wider variety of boats, and to your desired handling characteristics. The inflatable rig and the kayak rig work on rigid canoes if you get sliding leeboard mounts and 2 pair of gunwale clamps. (Canoes need the leeboards farther forward than the standard fixed position for kayaks and inflatables). Changing leeboard position with these sliding mounts requires no tools and can be done in a few seconds provided you aren't also trying to sail the boat at the same time. Do on shore or let your passenger do it for you, so you are not distracted from your duties as skipper!

Electric Air Pump - Power Inflator 12V DC works off car cigarette lighter We tested many inflators before choosing 2 to sell. This is the quietest one we tested. Plugs into cigarette lighter. Has hose and adaptors for different size valves. Will inflate 11' Super Caravelle or Mariner in about 10 minutes. You don't have to hold it, so while main chambers are filling, you can be getting the rest of your gear arranged. A few puffs by mouth required to top off each chamber. You can do these puffs into the end of the hose (it detaches from pump), so you don't have to pucker up right against the boat. If you want option for cordless operation, get item 2016 instead. However, only this pump can be reversed to help deflate the boat. Squeeze most of the air out by rolling or folding, then suck the rest out using this pump to get your boat as small as possible for convenient transporting and storage. For deflation, you do have to hold the hose in the boat's orifice and block leakage around the hose with your hand, but this is easily and quickly done and the deflation function is very effective.
2-way Power Electric Air Pump Inflator - Works Cordless or from Cigarette Lighter 12V DC We tested many inflators before choosing 2 to sell. Works cordlessly on it's internal rechargeable battery or plugs into car cigarette lighter. Not too noisy (unlike some power inflators). Recharges from AC house current. We could not find a pump with 2-way power like this that had a hose so we are modifying these ourselves to add the hose. A hose is essential -- otherwise you have to stand there and hold the inflator. The whole point of a power inflator, we think, it to be able to be doing other things while it's working! Will inflate 11' Super Caravelle in about 12 minutes. There is plenty of juice in the rechargeable, even at the end of inflating a whole boat, unlike some other rechargeables we tried. A few puffs by mouth required to top off each chamber. You can do these puffs into the end of the hose (it detaches from pump), so you don't have to pucker up right against the boat. If you want a lower price and don't care about cordless operation, get item 2015 instead. We think you'll use this in cordless mode 90% of the time, but it's nice to know you can plug it into the car if you forget to recharge it or can't recharge it some time.
Also perfect as a bellows to get your campfire roaring (just don't melt it!) Cannot help you deflate the boat, unlike the other electric pump we sell.
Rowing outriggers and clamps for Cat2Go (Haiku Pontoon Boat from Clear Blue Hawaii) Rowing is great exercise and faster than paddling. Take the sail kit off, use your 2 ruddering oars and the front crossbar, along with these rowing outriggers, to really row hard and strong in your Cat2Go. This is not to be used with sail installed; it's a whole 'nother life for your cat!
If you don't have our sail kit, then you also need to order a crossbar and some oars.
Carry Bag - fits sail rigs or canoe stabilizers This handy duffel bag is custom made to fit all the parts for the inflatable boat sail kit, or the Canoe Kit minus the outrigger floats. Book On Learning To Sail -- Jim's Favorite We've read them all (almost) and this is the best "How-To-Sail-For- Beginners" type book out there. It's the one used by the Annapolis Sailing School. It's got one female author and one male author, so both halves of our species were represented in its creation, which for a "how-to" book is a good thing.
Jim Luckett says: "It's clear, well written, well illustrated, and correct."

Clamps to sail with motor mount Motor mounts use the same fittings we use for normal attachment of the steering oar unit, so trying to use both at once presents a conflict. This item resolves that conflict by allowing you to attach steering oar unit to motor mount supports. Enables you to sail with motor mount installed. Sail 45 sq ft dacron Custom made 45 SF sail in Dacron fits Snark, SailboatsToGo, Spring Creek and Sea Eagle boats. Excellent workmanship and high quality materials. Dacron is theoretically more efficient at converting wind to boat-moving power than any other fabric, but we don't see a measurable difference in a head-to-head race with our standard nylon sail. These are made after they are ordered, so allow about 3 to 6 weeks. Wide choice of colors (Red, white, 3 shades of blue, turquoise, green, yellow, 2 shades of orange, purple, gold, black, gray, tanbark, pink) and the 4 panels of the sail can be different. Not returnable unless defective. If you want this sail INSTEAD of the standard sail in a sail kit or sailboat you are ordering today, choose item 5017 instead. Spar set - boom, top spar, mast slide for our rigs, Sea Eagle, etc. Segmented (3 sections each) and shock-corded inside, so they folds to 45 inches, but the parts stay together. You fold it with the sail still on the spars, for fast setup and take down. Fits our rigs, Sea Eagle, SOAR too. Mast slide is on pivot, so sail can be furled and stored vertically against the mast, held up by the halyard, without taking the mast slide loose from the mast. Heavy duty mast upgrade Twice as strong on the bottom half of the mast, so you can keep the sail up high even in stronger winds. With the standard mast, when the white caps appear, it's time to lower the sail a foot to reduce strain on the mast. Only a pound heavier. Still fits in the optional rig bag. Not shock-corded. Pieces lock together with spring button instead. This price is to substitute this mast for the standard mast when ordering a rig. Canoe leeboards mount to stabilizer crossbar Canoe leeboards mount to same crossbar as stabilizers (outriggers). Leeboards are large blades that slice through the water making it easier to go straight and harder to get pushed sideways by the wind or erratic paddling. Includes mounting fittings and knob bolts to attach to crossbar of our stabilizers (outriggers), so you can use both at once. Leeboards swing back and up if they hit submerged obstruction or beach. Already included in sail kits.
Float rod extensions for stabilizer (outrigger) floats Pair of extension that increases the range of adjustment possible for height of the stabilizer floats. Without extensions, floats have 5 inches of vertical adjustment, which is enough to reach the water on most canoes. If your canoe is more than 14 inches deep, or if you want to force the floats down to press harder on the water for greater stability when stationary, these will increase the range of adjustment up to 10 inches. Swiveling Mast Slide ( Bolts to boom (bolts and nuts included) and accepts mast up to 1.375-inch outside diameter. Clamp-on Rudder Mount For Hard-Transom Boats Drop this on your boat's transom, turn one knob, and you're ready for our rudder. Rudder mounts to it just by sliding pin through the eyes on the rudder mount and the eyes on the rudder. For Zodiac-type hard-transom boats and rigid fishing boats. Rowing Outriggers for Canoe Gives you oar pivot points farther apart than width of the canoe, for better leverage when rowing. Requires crossbar and gunwale clamps from our canoe stabilizer or canoe sail kit. One end of each rowing outrigger snaps into crossbar. Oars, seat, crossbar sold separately. Accepts 1/2" diameter oarpin (same as the pin on our steering oars). If you need crossbar and clamps (i.e., maybe you are getting a sail kit, but don't want the rowing setup to share parts with the sailing setup) they can be ordered separately.

Motor Rudder short rudder head and u-bolt If you want to sail your Zodiac-type boat with our #2009 sail rig, but also keep your outboard on the transom, one option for steering while sailing is to mount the rudder blade to the motor. All you need are: (a) This short rudder head and included square u-bolt, (b) the rudder that comes with the #2009 sail rig, and (c) an outboard stabilizer plate you obtain elsewhere ($59 - we'll tell you where) . 55 Sq. Ft. Nylon Sail and Spar Extension Go faster when the winds are not strong. This yellow & white 55 SF sail fits any of our sailboats or sail rigs, by adding a spar extension (included with sail). Heavy duty mast is highly recommended with this sail, unless you are sure your winds will always be light. Sunflower Replacement Sail Replacement sail for Sunflower Snark sailboat. Approximately 11'8" on the luff (the almost vertical, forward edge) and about 9' 8" on the foot (bottom, horizontal edge). Yellow and white. Check your Sunflower -- a few of the oldest ones actually use the Super Snark sail, not this one. To use this one, one spar must be longer than the other. Motor mount for Canoe - Hinged Designed for trolling motors, this canoe motor mount is hinged so that your trolling motor will flip up automatically if it hits an underwater obstruction. Clamps onto your canoe gunwales without tools. Electric motors only. Without the extension (item 5054) this only fits the extreme rear part of a canoe, where canoes are very narrow. With extension, fits up to 30 inch width, so you can move motor farther forward. Unhinged version, next item.
Motor mount for Canoe - Super Strong for up to 3 HP Similar to hinged motor mount (item 5052) but rigid and stronger with bigger block for mounting motor. Great for electrics and also gas motors up to 3 HP. Maximum motor weight is 35 lbs. Sized to mount at extreme rear of canoe, where canoes are very narrow, but with extension (item 5054) can fit up to 30 inch width. Safety note: Motoring solo from the rear seat of a canoe is dangerous, because the uneven weight distribution puts the bow up in the air, and then the thrust of the motor can put it more up in the air, to the point where you could flip or swamp. At a minimum, put some weight up front. Better yet, turn canoe around and use the bow seat as the rear seat, which will put you and the motor closer to the middle. A set of our leeboards will improve steering control and help you fight crosswinds (item 5056). Set of our canoe stabilizers also strongly recommended for side-to-side stability.

Most canoe motor mounts won't accomodate the width of a canoe anywhere but very close to the stern. This extension allows either of the two preceding motor mounts to go up to 30 inchs. Snap-in Motor Mount Motor mount snaps into end of our stabilizer crossbar or front crossbar of sail kit. The telescoping arm of your stabilizer float passes right through the motor mount and engages the stabilizer crossbar normally.
Leeboards and moveable mounting for canoe Clamp this leeboard set onto your canoe near the front to help you go straight. Leeboards are like paddle blades in the water, aligned to help you go straight. Greatly improves steering control and resistance to crosswinds when motoring and allows you to move the motor location forward without loss of steering ability. Motoring from the extreme rear of a canoe can be dangerous (risk of swamping or tipping). Motoring in a crosswind can present control problems. Add leeboards, move motor farther from rear end (using an add-on seat or by turning canoe around and using bow seat as the stern seat) and these problems are reduced. Stabilizers also recommended for motoring. Leeboards help with paddling and rowing too, but effect is not as dramatic. Rowing outriggers snap into sockets and clamp to gunwales. You sit on the board. Pay $29 for this pair of sockets, instead of $100 or more for crossbar, clamps and seat . The gunwale clamps of the rowing outriggers plus your weight on the board work pretty well to secure it, but if you add floats, you'll want to at least strap the board down. Economy Rowing Package Canoe rowing for less money: Package consists of oars, clamp-on oarpins, rowing outriggers, and a pair of outrigger sockets. Buy yourself a board locally (1 x 10 x width of your canoe plus a little bit more) and bolt the sockets to the board. Place board with sockets across gunwales, plug outriggers into sockets and clamp to gunwales with included clamps, sit on board, put oars in place and row! It's actually a very satisfactory canoe rowing solution and very quick to put on and take off your canoe. Socket is a double-tube socket, so you can also add stabilizer floats (item 1002 or 1006) but then plan to secure board to canoe for times when you are not sitting on it -- get a pair of our gunwale clamps or devise other means.

Ethafoam canoe sponsons - foam flotation - 1 pair Some canoes will sink if swamped. Sponsons add flotation to help keep swamped canoe afloat. Might save your canoe, might even save the life of a person clinging to overturned canoe. Each sponson is a 4" diameter half-round, that is 9 feet long. Together, the pair of sponsons provide about 45 lbs of flotation (meaning they displace 45 lbs of water) which might make the crucial difference between sinking and floating. Add a pair of our stabilizer floats, and there's another 50 lbs (approx) of flotation. 4 Rubber expansion nuts (well nuts) - Makes installation easy on sit-op-tops Rubber insert with brass female thread allows bolt-on installation even when you can't get to the back side to hold a nut. Rubber nut works kind of like a "molly" or "screw plug" hollow wall anchor you might use in your house to hang a picture or a shelf bracket. Auto makers use them to mount luggage racks, so you know they are strong! Just drill hole, insert rubber nut (rubber collar keeps it from falling through and seals hole), and screw in your bolt. As you tighten, rubber shaft on inside scrunches up so rubber nut resists pulling out and holds your accessory firmly. Set of 4.
